The Second Half of a Chaotic Weekend

Okay, now that we’ve talked through Saturday. This was my Sunday:

Went to drop off Harry’s birthday present – bought him boots to replace his favorite ones that recently got ruined. Also brought some homemade soup for Harry and Skye, since they are both fighting off a bit of a cold.

Met a guy at my place to show him one of our cars. He just moved here from Nevada, and they only brought one of their vehicles. He’s interested in something reliable and fuel efficient. Our plug-in hybrid is definitely that. I felt a little bad for being somewhat difficult with him. In my defense, everyone else has seriously wasted what little time I have, and I am running out of patience. Anywho. He showed up, loved the car, and ended up making a very reasonable offer. We accepted, and began the paperwork… only to find that the title was POOF! gone. It wasn’t in the file we keep all our important documents in. We have no clue where it went. But this is life with ADHD. It probably came in years ago, got set down somewhere totally inappropriate, and completely forgotten. And now, it’s nowhere to be found. He was a really good sport about it and said he would feel better if we could meet tomorrow at the Department of Licensing to get it all worked out, but he really does want to buy it.

I went inside, ready to head upstairs to try to tackle at least a little of the master bedroom. To find that Skipper was completely unregulated and overwhelmed. She’s supposed to be working on sorting her bedroom. I ended up sitting with her and trying to help her manage those emotions – I know this is hard. She’s having to make a decision about every single item in her room. That’s a LOT of decisions. And she’s never had to do anything like this before. Sure – she’s always been responsible for clearing old clothing/toys from her own belongings, but she’s never had to pack her things or downsize to almost nothing. This is understandably difficult. Finally got her back on track, and had to stop to have a similar conversation with Ken. He’s worried about not having the time to get through everything – but if he tries to streamline by throwing out a lot, we won’t be maximizing the potential cash for our purge. We decided on a middle ground. If he thinks he can get more than $20 for something, toss it in this box and we’ll add it to the garage sale. If not, it goes in the trash. We don’t have time. Sucks to be throwing out things that are perfectly useful, even if they aren’t useful to US.

Finally got back to my room and managed to pack 3 very small boxes of books for donation. I’ve decided I’m going to load them into our little red wagon and leave it on the sidewalk in front of the house with a sign: “FREE BOOKS! (Feel free to take the wagon, too!)”. Haha – genius choice to give someone a way to transport them while also removing the wagon from my cognitive load!

I’m POOPED.
