Vacations and BOAS and Boxes, Oh My!

Skipper always has very busy summers – usually including a trip to see my in-laws in California for a few weeks, a trip or two to see my mom for 4-5 days each, and a week-long overnight summer camp. Today, she left for California with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend. She absolutely loves those two, and couldn’t be happier to be spending the drive and the first few days with them.

I miss her already, even though she’s only been gone for a couple of hours. At least I have a lot to keep me busy while she’s away.

Went to the specialist to have Bennie and Blue evaluated for BOAS. Both boys scored 2 out of 3, and might need surgery before they can even be cleared to fly. We won’t know until we see a surgeon.

YAY! More phone calls!

With that said, it’s time to start really digging into the house. I’ve got pretty severe ADHD, so I’m going to need to make a checklist so I don’t miss anything. And probably assign myself some deadlines so I’ll stay on track. Deadlines and checklists are like gold to my brain – there’s something deeply satisfying about checking a box, and I don’t get anything done without the urgency of a deadline. I think I’ll try to make this easier on myself by starting with a quick win – the front hall. That might not sound like it should take much, but in a house with 4 ADHDers, the front hall has become a catch-all. I’ve got to declutter and organize the area where we keep our shoes, coats, and bags. This is likely the smallest task ahead, so it should be an easy win to gain some momentum. Wish me luck – I’m gonna need it!
