Dad: Voluntold

Now I have a real problem. Who’s going to coach the soccer team while I’m having fun in the sun??

Dad. Dad is wonderfully willing to do just about anything I ask. I try not to ask too much, but I think this has to happen.

“Hey Dad… I need to ask you a HUGE favor. I know I always say it’s a huge favor so you’ll be happy when it’s something small, but this time it really is HUGE.”

[Dad groans] “Okay, I’m sitting down. What do you need?”

“Can you please please please pretty please be my assistant coach? I know it would mean the world to Skipper, and you’ll have to take her to practices anyway….”

[Dad freezes. Long pause.] “UGH. Okay. I’ll try. What do I have to do?”

And that’s how I manipulated my wonderful father into covering practices while I’m having the time of my life.

Twice a week, Dad comes with me to practice. I’ve shown him most of the drills. He knows what things need to happen at every practice (stretches, run laps, etc.). He has Skipper to lean on for a little help. The team is expecting my absence, so hopefully they don’t give him too hard a time.

I guess I better go write the plans for those 3 practices I’m going to miss. At least I planned for the one weekend there is no game!!

Oh, and Harry’s passport came in.
